Dr. Hal Weary is intrigued with working and thinking across genres in music and disciplines in the arts. He has international experience as a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, educator, and scholar: most recently, presenting “Artistry. Industry, Technology, and Pedagogy: A Model for Educating 21st Century Musicians.” in Athens, Greece at the Athens Institute for Education and Research 15th Annual International Conference on Visual and Performing Arts and "Music Entrepreneurship: Building Social and Cultural Capital" at the Vienna Music Business Research Days in Vienna, Austria. His research interests include Music and Artist-Driven AI, Intellectual Property Management, and innovative pedagogical teaching modalities. His recordings “Serendipity” “We Prayed with Our Feet,” and “Rendezvous” are accessible through most digital service providers. His most recent recording, “At the Piano: The Grand Chapter” is a solo jazz piano recording that blends jazz, pop, gospel, and global music and is available through most DSPs as well. At the Harry Fox Agency, he was responsible for relationship management between HFA and its affiliated publishers and sister societies. He successfully spearheaded projects involving complex data analysis, business strategy, and forecasting within the context of the economics of music creation.

Dr. Weary was recently awarded tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in the Department of Music at Cal State, Dominguez Hills. He held previous full-time faculty appointments at Albright College and Wayne State University, where he designed, developed, taught, and coordinated two successful programs: Music Business and Music Industry Studies. Throughout his career in higher education, he has developed a track record of success educating, preparing, and connecting students to successfully navigate the changing landscape of the music industry in the 21st century. He was recently elected to serve on the MEIEA (Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association) as a general board member. Dr. Weary earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from San José State University, a Master of Music in Music Management from William Paterson University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition and Arranging from Five Towns College.
